East Reservoir is located in Melbourne's north-east within the City of Darebin. Residential development in the area is predominantly of the early post-war era and includes large areas of public housing.
The East Reservoir Neighbourhood Renewal area encompasses the area bounded by Cheddar Road, McMahon Road, Darebin Creek Reserve, Plenty Road, Bolderwood Parade and the Broadway.
